Hair Loss after pregnancy

One of the major problems that women face after pregnancy is hair fall. Nearly 50 percent of women suffer
  • Use voluminous shampoos instead of conditioning shampoos. Your fine hair needs a conditioner that is meant for this type of hair so that it is not weighed down by the excess ingredients in it. Shampoos with silica or biotin can promote hair growth and make your hair seem fuller.
  •  Do not try hairstyles that can put unnecessary stress on your hair. This will cause your hair to fall out more. Go easy on styles that pull at the root of your hair.
  •  Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, flavinoids, anti-oxidants that help in maintaining healthy hair growth and in protecting the hair follicles.
  • Take supplements if you have to. Vitamin C, E, B complex, biotin and zinc are vital for hair health and strength.
  • Do not comb wet hair. This rule is always applicable whatever be the reason you think is behind your hair loss. The tangles and knots tend to make hair weaker when it is combed while it is still wet. If you absolutely have to comb, use a wide toothed comb.
  • Get a hair cut. Shorter hair can make your hair look healthier and fuller than it actually is. Also, taking care of shorter hair will be much easier.
  • Stay away from heating tools like straighteners, curling irons, blow dryers, etc. This will help restore healthy growth in your hair.
  • Keep your scalp clean. This will help prevent hair loss from other factors like dandruff, scalp infections, etc.
  • Use natural products that contain less chemicals and additives.

Hair loss after pregnancy can peak around the fourth month. Like everything during or after pregnancy, this is temporary and your hair will go back to its original state after a year or so post pregnancy.
